A Double Feature – Where is Mighty? Meet the Gizoid, Emerl!
Just coming off beating Sonic Battle not too long ago and replaying Sonic Megamix (fan game, not officially from Sega/Sonic Team) as Mighty, I wanted to do something different. How about combining two features which have been getting some good views and responses, and center them around characters relating to games I’ve played recently? The above quote is so awesome. For the next edition of my Character Spotlight feature, the black hedgehog named Shadow gets the attention this time.
When the first photos of Sonic Adventure 2 appeared in magazines and the internet, one of the things people wanted to know was – who is that black hedgehog? Is he a dark version of Super Sonic? A clone made by Dr. Eggman? Or something entirely different? Here’s the classic first encounter between Sonic and Shadow:
Shadow was created by Dr. Eggman’s uncle, Gerald Robotnik, to be the “Ultimate Lifeform”, in order to help cure his sick granddaughter, Maria Robotnik. Once word got out that Robotnik’s experiments might be a threat to mankind, G.U.N. raided the ARK, and destroyed everything, killing Maria in the process, and capturing Gerald, who was ultimately executed. Before Maria was killed, she made sure Shadow was not harmed and sent him off to an escape pod.
After 50 years of eternal slumber, Shadow was found and reawakened by Eggman, and was recruited to help conquer the world. As the battle between good vs. evil went on, Shadow started to have some flashbacks, and when he met up with Amy Rose the second time, Shadow finally remembered the promise Maria wanted him to keep – bring hope to humanity. Along with Sonic, the two hedgehogs fought and defeated the Biolizard, and used Chaos Control. Shadow then fell to the earth, presumed dead.
But Shadow was turned out to be alive after all. Rouge and Omega find him in a statis tube and yatta yatta. Everyone knows the Sonic Heroes story. >.>
In the Shadow the Hedgehog game, it is finally revealed that Shadow was created by Gerald with the help of Black Doom’s DNA. Shadow then says “screw this crap”, gathers all the Chaos Emeralds, and kicks Black Doom’s alien ass. From that point on, Shadow stops caring about his past and wants to move forward.

Now that I’m continuing my long road to completing Sonic Adventure 2: Battle as Rouge, I thought it would be appropriate to kick off my Character Spotlight feature with the “sex symbol” of the Sonic series.
Rouge made her first debut in Sonic Adventure 2 as the treasure-hunting member of the Dark team. Along with the treasure-hunting, she is also a part-time member of G.U.N. Rouge loves jewels including the Chaos Emeralds, and the Master Emerald, which annoys Knuckles quite a bit. The pair are constantly at odds, but are too stubborn to admit they like each other even a little bit.
When she isn’t flirting around with the echidna, Rouge is usually seen with Shadow the Hedgehog and E-102 Omega, fellow agents of G.U.N. The 3 of them made their debut as a team in Sonic Heroes and have worked together in other Sonic games such as Sonic ’06. She started out as a selfish girl but has since shown a little bit of compassion and deeply cares for her fellow “Dark” chums, especially Shadow.

Some facts:
- Only Sonic female with visible cleavage, probably the reason why she doesn’t appear in Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games. Parents don’t want their kids being exposed to jiggly boobs. Yet the DOA-like bouncy boobs stayed in Sonic Adventure 2/Battle. Hmm…
- Can’t choose between Knuckles and Shadow. What a slut! 
Naw, just kiddin’.
- Has worn 3 different outfits, more than any other character thus far.
- If you switch to first-person view in Sonic Heroes, Rouge will look back and wink!
